How Important Is Backing Up Your Computer?

Data backup is probably the most important part of any IT system. Backing up your data means periodically saving a copy of your computer’s information to an offsite location for safe keeping. Having a copy of your computer’s data protects it from being lost in the event of a hard drive failure, natural disaster, or virus.

Backing up files is important for everyone but it is an absolute necessity for businesses that may have many years’ worth of valuable information stored on computer hard drives. A loss of this valuable information can be extremely costly; it can translate to downtime, customer service issues, and sometimes could even mean having to close permanently due to the loss of irreplaceable information.

One study found that up to almost half of companies have lost important business data somehow, and oftentimes it was deleted accidentally. If the information is backed up at an offsite location, it can be easily restored. Here are some important statistics that demonstrate the importance of data backup:

  • 6% of all computers experience data loss each year. (The Cost Of Lost Data, David M. Smith)
  • Every week 140,000 hard drives crash in the United States. (Mozy Online Backup)
  • 31% of PC users have lost all of their files due to events beyond their control.
  • 20% of small to medium businesses will suffer a major disaster causing loss of critical data every 5 years.
  • 60% of companies that lose their data will shut down within 6 months of a disaster.
  • Companies that aren’t able to resume operations within ten days of a disaster are not likely to survive. (Strategic Research Institute)
  • Many data loss issues occur because of malware. Protecting data on outside servers helps shield it from viruses and other insidious issues. (Timesavers International)
  • Simple drive recovery can cost upwards of $7,500 and success is not guaranteed

At Localloop, we can help you backup and protect the valuable information you have on your computer. Don’t wait until it’s too late.

6 Reasons You Should Switch to VoIP

Yealink W52P Cordless Phone

VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. Put simply, we are able to utilize your internet connection for your telephone calls. There are many benefits to VoIP that can help your small business. In this article I’m going to go over six of the most popular reasons why people switch to VoIP.

Reasons to Switch

  1. Save Money
  2. This is probably the number one reason people switch to VoIP from traditional phone service. It’s cheap! Most of our customers save an average of 30-40% off their current phone bill.

  3. Voicemail to Email
  4. Tired of having to log in to your voicemail to check messages? Our system will send your messages to your email as an attachment. This makes it easy to check them wherever you are. Listen to them on your iPhone or Android powered smart phone or anywhere you have internet access.

  5. Custom Hold Music
  6. Our system lets you customize your hold music. Your customers can listen to your daily specials, deals, or other announcements while they wait on hold. We also have a wide selection of royalty free music to choose from.

  7. E-Faxing
  8. Let’s face it, fax isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. But that doesn’t mean you have to send and receive faxes with that dinosaur machine your office still uses. We can deliver your incoming faxes straight to your e-mail inbox as a PDF. You can also send a fax of any document on your computer without having to print it.

  9. Mobility
  10. Ever get an important call right before you needed to leave the office? Want to work from home every now and then but can’t miss your calls? VoIP enables you to transfer calls to your cell phone and have calls delivered straight to it. Our follow me feature will let you get calls from the office anywhere in the world.

  11. Automated Menus
  12. Auto Attendants help you easily route calls to where they are supposed to go. We will even help you write and record the script if you need it. For customers who are impatient or don’t like to use menus, we can also have invalid button

DPS is now Localloop, Inc.

Localloop Header Logo

We are proud to announce that Data Protection Services (DPS) is now known as Localloop, Incorporated!

It has been a long journey since we started doing business back in 2010 offering data backup. Since then, we’ve expanded to offer maintenance contracts, managed antivirus, voice over IP phone service, computer networking, consulting, and many other things besides data protection. This was our main reason for changing the name. The fact that most of our customers, and us as well, just used our initials was also a contributing factor. New customers who didn’t know what DPS stood for, or didn’t need “data protection services,” wouldn’t have a reason to consider doing business with us.

We want to assure you that nothing has changed here at Localloop, Inc. besides our name. We still offer the same great service from the same great people for the same great prices. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns we would love to hear them. Please call us at 478-453-8324 or toll free at 855-711-LOOP (5667). You can also use our new contact form which will deliver your message directly to a Localloop, Inc. employee.

Thank you for being a valued customer of Localloop, Inc. We look forward to doing business with you.
